The vigilance team probing the alleged misappropriation of ghee supplied by Milma to the Sabarimala Sannidhanam during the 2025–26 pilgrimage season has informed the Kerala High Court that it has seized records from various offices of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and Milma and questioned numerous witnesses. Vigilance SP M J Sojan, who is heading the investigation, submitted a progress report before the High Court.
Records were seized from TDB offices at Sabarimala, Nilakkal, Erumeli, Pathanamthitta, Pandalam and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as Milma offices at Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta. After examining the chief investigating officer’s report, the bench of Justices V Raja Vijayaraghavan and K V Jayakumar expressed satisfaction with the investigation and observed that it was proceeding in the proper direction, before adjourning the matter to August 21 for further hearing.
The vigilance probe had earlier been ordered by the court following a report from the Sabarimala special commissioner concerning alleged misappropriation of ghee supplied by Milma. The special commissioner’s report had alleged that the Travancore Devaswom Board caused a loss of ₹2.27 crore by bypassing the ongoing tender process and awarding the contract for supplying ghee used in the preparation of Aravana Prasadam to Milma, instead of a Tamil Nadu-based private dairy that had emerged as the lowest bidder.
The investigation is ongoing, and the latest seizure of records from multiple TDB and Milma offices marks a significant step in examining the alleged irregularities. (timesofindia.indiatimes.com)
