Banas Dairy has announced a major environmental initiative to sow 1 crore (10 million) seedballs across the Aravalli hills as part of a large-scale afforestation drive aimed at rejuvenating one of India's oldest mountain ranges. The campaign seeks to combat deforestation, restore biodiversity and improve ecological balance by dispersing seedballs containing native tree seeds encased in a mixture of soil, nutrients and natural binding materials that can germinate with the onset of the monsoon, requiring minimal human intervention.
According to The Times of India, the initiative is expected to involve widespread community participation, reinforcing Banas Dairy's commitment to environmental sustainability alongside dairy development. The project aligns with the cooperative's broader focus on green initiatives, renewable energy and rural development, complementing its ongoing investments in Bio-CNG plants and other circular economy projects.
By integrating environmental conservation with cooperative-led community engagement, Banas Dairy continues to expand its role beyond milk production, demonstrating how the dairy sector can contribute to climate resilience and sustainable rural ecosystems. (timesofindia.indiatimes.com)
