Land O'Lakes Inc. has announced a strategic investment to expand high-value dairy protein production at its Tulare, California processing facility, strengthening its position in the fast-growing global market for protein-rich nutrition.
The expansion will enable the production of ultra-filtered milk, allowing the farmer-owned cooperative to generate greater value from member milk, create new growth opportunities for its farmer-owners and enhance its competitiveness as consumer demand increasingly shifts toward high-protein foods.
According to Heather Anfang, Executive Vice President of Land O'Lakes and President of Dairy Foods, the investment is designed to build a more resilient, growth-oriented dairy business while creating new demand for member milk and supporting long-term opportunities for cooperative members.
The company noted that rising nutritional awareness and evolving health trends, including the increasing use of GLP-1 medications, are reshaping food consumption patterns and accelerating global demand for dairy proteins, which is expected to outpace supply through the remainder of the decade.
The investment will also strengthen the Tulare dairy community, home to around 100 farmer-owners and farm families, while reinforcing dairy's role as a trusted source of high-quality protein and supporting long-term cooperative growth through value-added dairy ingredients. (Feed Strategy)
