Indian Finalist Entries Lead at 2025 IDF Dairy Awards

By DairyNews7x7•Published on September 03, 2025

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has announced the finalists for the 2025 edition of the IDF Dairy Innovation Awards, set to be presented on 21 October during the IDF World Dairy Summit in Santiago, Chile. The global awards, now in their fourth year, attracted over 125 entries from 23 countries, celebrating pioneering initiatives that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

India has made a strong mark this year, with four finalists across different categories:

  1. Bharat Sanjeevani – Recognized under Innovation in Animal Care in Farming, the project leverages AI-driven diagnostics and mobile tools to deliver tech-enabled veterinary support, enhancing livestock health and productivity for smallholder farmers.

  2. NITARA – A finalist in Innovation in Socio-Economic Sustainability in Farming, NITARA is an AI-enabled mobile platform offering dairy management solutions, virtual advisors, and offline access to empower smallholder dairy farmers across India.

  3. SARAS – Zero Liquid Discharge Plant – Shortlisted in Sustainable Processing Innovation, SARAS has implemented India’s first ZLD system in the dairy sector, recycling over 660,000 liters of water daily for operations and community use.

  4. NDDB – Carbon Credits from Biogas Plants – Featured under Innovation in Climate Action in the Dairy Sector, the National Dairy Development Board’s initiative generates carbon credits and clean energy through manure management, offering farmers both income and sustainable fuel solutions.

The recognition underscores India’s growing leadership in sustainable dairy farming, digital innovation, and climate action. Industry experts say these nominations reflect India’s ability to merge technology with grassroots empowerment, positioning the country as a global innovator in dairy.

Laurent Damiens, Jury President, noted, “The diversity and quality of this year’s entries reflect the dairy sector’s unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability.” IDF Director General Laurence Rycken added that the awards highlight the ingenuity of dairy innovators working to nourish the world sustainably.

With the winners set to be revealed next month, India’s strong showing has raised hopes that the country could secure top honors in multiple categories, further enhancing its reputation in the global dairy innovation ecosystem.
