Gokul Hikes Buffalo Milk Price by Rs 2 per litre
Gokul Dairy has announced a retail price increase of ₹2 per litre for its full-cream buffalo milk, taking the price from ₹74 to ₹76 per litre with effect from February 21, 2026. The move comes amid rising input and procurement costs for milk producers and after a period of relatively stable retail prices.
According to the official update, the price of buffalo milk in the cooperative’s key markets — including Mumbai — is now ₹76/litre. This hike follows ongoing cost pressures in the dairy sector, such as higher fodder, feed, labour, and logistics costs, which have squeezed margins for dairy cooperatives and farmers alike.
In recent months, Gokul has also raised the price it pays to farmers for buffalo milk, aligning purchase costs with the elevated cost of production and helping sustain rural milk production economies amid tight margins. While the recent revision only applies to buffalo milk, the cooperative has not ruled out further price adjustments for cow milk and other packaged dairy variants if cost pressures persist.
Industry analysts say price adjustments by cooperatives like Gokul reflect broader cost inflation in India’s dairy marketing system, as processors and unions work to balance farmer remunerative pricing with consumer affordability — a dynamic seen with other large dairy brands that have also revised milk prices in recent years.
