The Goa government has launched a new scheme to strengthen infrastructure in the cooperative dairy sector, aiming to modernize milk procurement, processing and value addition across the state. Under the initiative, registered cooperative dairy societies will receive financial assistance of up to 75% of the project cost, subject to a maximum grant of ₹50 lakh, for developing and upgrading dairy infrastructure.
Eligible activities include the establishment and modernization of milk collection centres, bulk milk coolers (BMCs), chilling units, milk processing facilities, storage infrastructure and other essential dairy equipment. The scheme is designed to enhance milk quality, improve operational efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses and increase the competitiveness of Goa's cooperative dairy sector. By encouraging infrastructure investment at the cooperative level, the government aims to strengthen the dairy value chain, improve market access and create sustainable income opportunities for dairy farmers while supporting the long-term growth of the state's dairy industry.
