Customer Experience & Value to Fuel India’s Food Delivery in 2026

By DairyNews7x7•Published on December 29, 2025

India’s food delivery sector is poised for significant expansion in 2026, with customer experience, delivery speed and value-conscious consumption identified as the key drivers of growth, according to insights from major platforms Swiggy and magicpin.

Anshoo Sharma, CEO & Founder of magicpin — one of India’s largest food delivery marketplaces — emphasised that deeper merchant inclusion and catering to value-oriented users will underpin the industry’s evolution. By lowering entry barriers and improving unit economics for a wide range of restaurants — from local eateries to national chains — platforms aim to build a more balanced and sustainable food delivery ecosystem in 2026 and beyond.

Swiggy’s Food Marketplace head, Rohit Kapoor, noted that consumer lifestyles have shifted, making convenience, speed, and feel-good food experiences crucial components of everyday decisions. The focus going forward will be on making delivery faster when needed, more balanced when required, and consistently reliable for millions who depend on it as part of daily life. This reflects a maturation of India’s online food ecosystem where service quality complements affordability to drive adoption.

magicpin’s Sharma highlighted that food delivery is increasingly becoming a daily habit for key demographic segments such as students, office-goers and families seeking affordability without compromise. Platforms are working to make everyday meals more accessible and cost-effective, enhancing value at every stage of the ordering experience.

The background data underscores the sector’s economic footprint: India’s food delivery platforms generated an estimated ₹1.2 lakh crore in gross output in 2023–24 and have expanded faster than the overall economy, emerging as a powerful employment engine, with direct employment rising from 1.08 million in 2021–22 to 1.37 million in 2023–24.

As 2026 approaches, enhanced user experience, value delivery, and inclusive merchant growth are expected to shape competitive strategies across Swiggy, magicpin and other players — signalling a next phase of sustainable expansion in India’s dynamic food delivery market.
