Belarus Lifts Skimmed Milk Powder Export Prices
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food for the Republic of Belarus has issued a new pricing directive that raises minimum export prices for skimmed milk powder (SMP) destined for several neighbouring markets, in a bid to support domestic dairy producers and stabilise trade. The resolution, published on the National Legal Internet Portal, takes effect from 23 February 2026.
Under Resolution No. 14 of 20 February, the minimum allowable export price for skimmed milk powder and related milk/cream solids with fat content not exceeding 1.5% has been increased by US $0.05 per kilogram — setting the new floor price at US $2.45/kg for exports to CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries and Georgia, with the exception of Russia, where pricing remains unchanged.
Officials said the policy is designed to ensure that Belarusian dairy processors receive a more competitive return on SMP exports, helping to maintain production margins at a time of fluctuating global dairy prices and strong regional demand. The pricing adjustment is targeted specifically at key neighbouring markets — critical export destinations for Belarusian dairy — and reflects broader efforts to balance domestic supply stability with foreign trade opportunities.
Analysts note that minimum export pricing policies like this can help limit undercutting on price in regional markets, support farmgate pricing in exporting countries, and mitigate the effects of volatile commodity markets on producers’ incomes, especially for bulk products such as milk powder.
