Aavin (Madurai) has introduced a cloud-based automated monitoring module at 45 Bulk Milk Coolers (BMCs) across Madurai district to ensure faster payments and improve transparency for dairy farmers. The new system instantly records and generates three key data points—milk weight, nutritional content, and monetary value—helping eliminate accounting delays while ensuring accurate evaluation of milk quality for better farmer remuneration.
According to Aavin officials, the software has already been installed, with training provided to BMC staff and awareness programmes conducted for milk producers to ensure effective use of the system. Once milk is poured into the unit, the information is automatically transmitted via the cloud to Aavin’s regional office in Madurai and headquarters in Chennai, allowing officials to verify milk quality, quantity and payment details in real time, thereby enabling quicker billing and prompt payments.
Each automated module costs ₹5 lakh, and officials stated that output details such as quality, weight and price cannot be altered by local staff, ensuring 100% genuine and tamper-proof records. Farmers have welcomed the initiative, saying it will improve payment efficiency and ensure fair compensation for high-quality milk. (newindianexpress.com)
