Oracle and the Swades Foundation have completed the first year of a rural livelihoods programme that has positively impacted more than 900 women farmers and entrepreneurs across Maharashtra’s Nashik and Raigad districts. The initiative focused on sustainable income generation through climate-smart agriculture, dairy farming, entrepreneurship development, and financial literacy.
A total of 525 women farmers were introduced to Safed Musali cultivation, a high-value and climate-resilient crop with the potential to generate annual incomes of ₹25,000–₹40,000. Additionally, 373 women received support for high-yield dairy cattle, enabling steady daily income and annual earnings of up to ₹40,000.
The programme also helped 62 women entrepreneurs expand micro-enterprises in food processing, retail, and agri-based businesses through seed capital and equipment support, with each enterprise expected to generate an additional ₹40,000–₹50,000 annually. All participants received training in sustainable farming, dairy management, financial decision-making, and market access to strengthen long-term economic resilience.
The initiative highlights the growing role of public-private partnerships in promoting women-led rural entrepreneurship, dairy development, and climate-resilient livelihoods in India. (CSRBox)
